The tree with the scientific name Agathis, commonly referred to as damar tree, or in Maori language called kauri, is a genus of 21 species of evergreen trees from the ancient conifer family araucariaceae. This tree is native to Indonesia, found in Papua. The damar tree has benefits for humans as its resin is used to make varnish, glass, and can serve as a paper coating.
