What Are Stereotypes?

• A generally preconceived notion of a person or group of people based on true or untrue beliefs

• The fear of being judged or fear of doing something to confirm a preconceived notion

• When we make a judgement about individuals with little information information that are true

• The Emotional Distress and Pressure that undermines performance

What is Social Identity Theory?

• A generally preconceived notion of a person or group of people based on true or untrue beliefs

• Identifying the groups we belong to (in-groups,"us")and groups we do not (out groups,"them")

• The fear of being judged or fear of doing something to confirm a stereotype

• The Self Concept for perceived internalized group membership

What is Social Comparison?

• Justifying group membership by comparing yourself to others

• Favoring the traits of our group,even if we didn't choose the group we are apart of

• When we make a judgement about individuals with very little info except their group membership

• Adopting group norms and characteristics

What is Social Categorization?

• Process of adopting the norms of the group and taking on the characteristics of the group

• When we make a judgement about individuals with very little info except their group membership
