New Year, Same Expectations

How many lines should you line up in before school, after snack, and after lunch?

When you walk up to the classroom, you should...

• go in immediately, there is no time to waste.

• If the door is closed, wait outside unless a teacher says otherwise.

• If the door is open, peek for a teacher and follow the instructions, or wait for a teacher if none is there.

• not look for a teacher and continue your conversation in the hallway.

Your pencil broke, you should...

• use your back up, ALWAYS have a back up.

• get up and sharpen it NOW.

• If your backup is broken, use the hand signal and THEN go switch it. if none are available, ask Ms. Ponce

• get up and quietly ask everyone if they have a pencil since none are sharpened.

You finished your morning work, you should

• chill and talk to the people at my table--as long as I am in my seat it doesn't matter what I do.

• Read a book when Morning blocks are not allowed.

• Waste time talking during morning work so I am always behind, and bonus, now my table is behind too.

• Ask Ms. Ponce to do ay catch up work.

You feel like someone broke a rule while playing a game/sport/project, you should...

• Shout "CHEATER," at them and tell everyone around me of everything that person did 'wrong'

• Politely mention the mistake, and if the issue is not quickly resolved, mention it to Ms. Ponce and she can decide how to handle it.

• Don't mention it now, but remember it for the next time you're in trouble, that way it takes pressure off of you.

When you have to use the restroom, you should...

• Go up to Ms. Ponce and just hand her a cowbuck.

• Talk to anyone else who is finished.

• Follow the instructions Ms. Ponce gave for when you were finished, or let Ms. Ponce know you have other unfinished work.

• Have a book out so it looks like you're reading, but talk and have free time.

• Sit and do nothing. You finished all your work, this is your time to enjoy however you please. Do not let anyone know or put anything away, just sit and stare.

How should you behave during a fire drill?

• Line up quietly and wait for your friends to make sure you are together in line. Wait for and follow Ms. Ponce to the designated area.

• Run outside as fast as you can. Yell, “Fire!” as loud as possible to make it more exciting.

• Start to exit quietly, without running or pushing. Make sure you are creating a line as you are walking towards the designated area. Stay quiet the entire time and wait for instructions.

• stay sitting down until a teacher says something. you do not have to do anything unless you are told to.

What should you do if you don’t understand the instructions for an assignment?

• Raise your hand and ask the teacher..

• Reread the instructions if you still do not get it, ask the teacher if it is independent work, or a classmate if it is group work.
  

• Skip the assignment and play games on your iPad.

• Try to figure it out on your own only. If you cannot you should skip the assignment and work on something else that is not challenging for you.

What is the best way to treat a classmate who accidentally bumps into you?

• Say, “It’s okay,” and move on.

  If it happens more or often, let a teacher know.

• Bump into them on purpose to get back at them.

• Shout, “Watch where you’re going!” and stomp away.

• Tell immediately, they probably did it on purpose.
