Factoring When X Greater Than One

What is the first question you ask yourself when factoring a polynomial? 

• How many terms does it have? 
• Is there a GCF? 
• What strategy should I use? 
• Why do I have to learn this?!?!?!

How do you factor a trinomial when the coefficient of x² is 1? (ex: x² - 2x + 10)

• Take out the GCf then you're done
• Difference of two squares 
• Find what multiplies to the last number and adds to the middle
• Slip & Slide

(x² - 2x - 15)

• (x - 5)(x + 3)
• (x + 3)(x - 5)
• (x - 3)(x - 5)
• (x - 15)(x - 2)

Factor: 
x² + 7x + 6

• (x + 6) (x + 1)
• (x + 3) (x + 2)
• (x + 4) ( x + 3)
• (x - 6) ( x -1)

Factor
d² - 10d + 25

• (d + 5) (d - 5)
• (d - 15) (d + 10)
• (d + 5) (d - 20)
• (d - 5) (d - 5)
