What is the range in statistics?

What does variance/standard deviation represent?

• How many different variations are in the data set.

• find the mean

• find the median

• find the mode

• find the range

Once you've calculated the mean, and listed the values in a table, what is the next step to calculating the variance?

• Square each value in the data set

• Subtract each value in the data set from the mean

• Subtract the mean from each value in the data set

• Add the mean to each value in the data set

After subtracting the mean from each value in the data set, the next step is to find the sum of those differences.

• Divide the variance by 2.
