what is social inequality ?

• This is the regular sum of earnings that you have coming in each month.

What is distribution of wealth?

• This is the way that vouchers and cash are given to poor people

• The inheritance that a child gets when a parent passes way

• This is the way that good weather improves a person's life chances

• This is the way that wealth is distributed between people

What are life chances?

• The strata or layer in a stratification system.

• The opportunities that people have to improve their lives

• The chance to get a good education

• The opportunity to eat delicious ice-cream every week.

What is fatalism?

• Believe that God has determined your life.

• The idea that you can shape your life through individual action

• Individual's belief that they cannot control what happens to them.

• The view that it is fine to smoke, because you won't get sick.

What is immediate gratification?

• Studying hard to get your qualifications

• Deciding to choose immediate satisfaction of needs and desires that than planning for a reward in the future.

• Leaving your favourite ice-cream in order to eat it another day.

• Helping your grandparents with a task rather than going out with friends.

What is the welfare state ?

• This is the way which governments try to provide for the less well off and reduce social inequality

• This is the way that wealth is distributed via the pension system

• This when you wake up and feel sick in the morning and need medicine
