What is the main idea of this story? Just once, Harriet wanted to earn a perfect score on her spelling test. She had never gotten all the words correct before. She tried so hard, but the letters just seemed to mix up on the page. This week, Harriet had a new plan. She would study so hard that she would memorize every letter in every word. She thought this would keep the letters from mixing up in her brain. When the test started, Harriet fell behind. She could not keep up as she tried to remember all the letters in order. She started to sweat. Harriet knew she needed a new strategy. Maybe next week should would get that perfect score.

What is the main idea of the story? “Mom!” Jordan yelled. “Caleb is standing in my window again. He won’t stop staring at me. Please do something!” Mom let out a big sigh. Caleb lived next door. He was always trying to come over. Caleb was only six years old. He did not understand that he should wait to be invited. “I will go talk to him,” Mom said. She walked outside and yelled to Caleb. Caleb ran to the front door. He tried to walk right in the house. “Hold on,” Mom said. “Caleb, I know you like coming over to play. We like to have you here, but sometimes we are busy doing other things. We cannot have you over to play all the time. I will send Jordan over to invite you and then you can come to play.” Caleb learned to wait for an invitation.

What is the main idea in the story? Have you ever heard the phrase fall behind or spring ahead? These phrases are used to describe what we call Daylight Savings Time. Daylight Savings Time is when many people around the world set their clocks ahead one hour in the spring and then set them back an hour in the fall. The first country to start using Daylight Savings was Germany. The year was 1916 and World War I was happening. The Germans needed an extra hour of daylight to save energy. Other European countries started Daylight Savings not long after Germany. By 1918, America had jumped on the Daylight Savings train as well. Do you think Daylight Savings should stick around for good?

What is the main idea of the story? Everyone has opinions about things. But the facts are stronger than opinions. Facts are true and can be proven. Here are some crazy facts I bet you didn’t know were actually real and true. A crocodile cannot stick out its tongue. All crocodiles have a membrane (a thin layer that is formed around a part of a living thing) that makes their tongue stuck to the top of their mouth! It is impossible for most people to lick their elbow. If you don’t believe me, try it! It is a fact that is absolutely impossible for pigs to look up at the sky. The way pigs’ neck muscles are made stops them from looking up. Just like fingerprints, everyone’s tongue print is different. It is fun to learn new amazing facts!
