After reading the text and looking at the diagram. What is the purpose of a cell wall

• To capture sunlight and convert it into energy for only plants
• To store DNA and tell the organelles what they should be doing in the cell.
• To provide structure so the plants so they do not fall over, and to allow protection for the Plant cell

What is the purpose of the cell membrane?

• To control materials are allowed to enter or exit a cell. It is also a protective layer
• To convert sunlight and water into energy
• To turn water into sugar

What is the purpose of the nucleus?

• To convert sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into energy for only plants
• To control all parts of the cell. Holds the DNA for growth and cell division

What is the purpose of a vacuole?

• To allow materials to enter or exit
• To store water, food, nutrients and waste like a stomach
• To convert sunlight , water, and CO2 into energy

5. CYTOPLASM (BOTH PLANTS AND ANIMALS): FUNTION OF CYTOPLASM: Cytoplasm is a jelly or watery like substance that fills the entire space in the cell. The cytoplasm is like the glue that keep all the cell's organelles in place so they do not move around.

6. CHLOROPLASTS (PLANTS ONLY): FUNCTION OF CHLOROPLASTS: Chloroplasts produce energy through photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is when plants take sunlight, water, and CO2 to convert it into useable food for the plant. Chloroplast contain a green pigment which is known as chlorophyll which absorb sunlight for photosynthesis.

• The purpose of chloroplasts is to allow materials to enter or exit a cell
• The purpose of choloroplats is to use photosyntheis to produce energy and food for a plant

7. MITCHONDRIA (BOTH PLANTS AND ANIMAL): FUNCTION OF MITOCHONDRIA: Mitochondria are organelles, or cell parts, often referred to as the powerhouses of cells. Mitochondria break down food into usable energy for cells. This energy source is called adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Mitochondria take food that the plants or animals obtains to convert it into energy that the organism can use.

• The purpose of mitochondria is to hold the organelles in place
• The purpose of miochondira is to take food and turn it into energy

8. Endoplasmic Reticulum: transports carbohydrates and proteins Golgi apparatus: Process and transport proteins The purpose of both of these organelles is to transport proteins to other parts of the cell. In general both of their functions is to produce proteins for the rest of the cell to function. What is both of the purposes of E.R and Golgi Apparatus?

• To process and transport proteins
• To hold the cell together as a jelly-like substance

9. RIBOSOMES (BOTH PLANT AND ANIMAL): FUNCTION OF RIBOSOMES: Their purpose is to create proteins for the cell. They assemble the structure of proteins. Their job is to make protein for the cells to use. What is the purpose of RIBOSOMES?

• They convert sunlight into energy trough photosynthesis
• They create and assemble protiens for the cell
