First Person Point of View

• A personal point of view using the 'I' point of view. May also contain me, our, we, us.

• A narrative style that uses 'he' or 'she' to tell the story.

• A perspective that provides an objective view without personal feelings.

• A point of view that includes multiple characters' thoughts and feelings.

Author's purpose

• To inform or teach someone about something

• To create confusion among readers

• To provide entertainment without any message

• To criticize the audience's beliefs

Irony

• A situation where everything goes as planned.

• Something happens that was the opposite of what was expected.

• A humorous or sarcastic remark.

• A situation that is completely predictable.

Prefer

• To like something more than something else.

• To dislike something entirely.

• To have no opinion on a matter.

• To choose randomly between options.

Engulfed

• To be surrounded or completely covered by it.

• To be left alone or abandoned.

• To be partially covered or hidden.

• To be exposed or revealed.

Alliteration

• The repetition of initial consonant sounds in neighboring words.

• The use of similar sounding words at the end of lines in poetry.

• The repetition of vowel sounds in nearby words.

• A figure of speech that involves an exaggeration for emphasis.

Personification

• Giving human qualities to non-human things

• Describing a character's physical appearance

• Using metaphors to compare two unlike things

• Creating a vivid image through sensory details

Setting

• The main character's journey

Musings

• A person's own inner thoughts.

Third Person Point of View

• View presents the events of the story from a narrator's point of view (he, she, it, they, them, their, her, his, or character's names are used).

• View presents the events of the story from the main character's perspective.

• View presents the events of the story in the first person using 'I' or 'we'.

• View presents the events of the story in a way that is entirely objective and without any character's thoughts.
