Fraudulent reporting has emerged as a critical issue in both corporate and public sectors, with significant implications for financial markets, investor confidence, and economic stability. Fraudulent reporting typically involves the intentional manipulation, misrepresentation, or omission of financial or operational data to deceive stakeholders, such as investors, regulators, or the public (Healy & Wahlen, 1999). High-profile cases, such as the Enron scandal in 2001 and the more recent Wirecard AG collapse in 2020, have highlighted the devastating consequences of fraudulent reporting, including massive financial losses, erosion of trust, and regulatory overhauls (Coffee, 2002; McCrum, 2020). These incidents underscore the need for robust mechanisms to detect and prevent fraudulent activities in financial reporting.

Research in fraudulent reporting were growing, Zin (2023) argued that the presence of non-audit services help the company reduced the probability of fraudulent reporting. However, this finding is not inline with some previous researches. Tan (2019) and Mei (2024) documented the non-audit services such as valuation department are helping the auditors to identify the risk of account balances, but, their effect is insignificantly influencing fraudulent reporting. The non-audit service consultant are having limited access towards data that prevent them from assessing the whole picture of fraud.
