Select the best summary for Davy Crockett Saves the World
(Wonders Literature Anthology, pgs. 326-339)
Halley’s Comet was rapidly approaching earth and could’ve potentially caused major damage. In response, the President created an ad in the newspaper in order to get help from Davy Crockett. Davy had no idea about the comet, much less the ad in the newspaper from the President, until Sally Sugartree told him about it. Once he knew, he rushed to meet with the President and ultimately defeated Halley’s Comet. By the end of the story, Davy saved the world and was rewarded, which teaches us that acts of bravery may lead to honor.
Halley’s Comet was not very nice to Davy Crockett. The two got into a major battle, but ultimately Davy won the challenge and the comet never came back again. After winning against Halley’s Comet, Davy was honored with a huge parade, got to marry Sally Sugartree, and was even elected into Congress. At the end of the story, we learn that Davy lost his hair, which is why he always wears a cap. This story teaches us that when you do courageous things, you will be rewarded.
The President of the United States was an attention seeker and did not know how to deal with Halley’s Comet, which was rapidly approaching earth. Sally Sugartree told Davy about the ad the President put in the newspaper. When Davy and the President met, they took pictures. By the end of the story, Davy was honored with a huge parade, got to marry Sally Sugartree, and was even elected into Congress.
Davy Crockett destroyed Halley’s Comet, which was trying to destroy earth. At first, Davy was a bit hesitant but rose to the challenge since he wanted to impress Sally Sugartree. The President convinced him that he’d be successful against the comet because he was so strong. There were a few obstacles, but he won. Luckily, Davy was able to save the world and marry his crush Sally Sugartree. That’s a “Win-Win”!
