Today we are going to discuss the 'Moving to (a)   ' programme and the impact it has had on our teaching and learning.

Lets start with Session 1, We completed a self reflection against the Professional Standards.

Can you remember any of the 5 Standards?

During Session 1 we were introduced to a lesson planning method that would help us ensure we produce 'excellent' lessons. This has been a non-negotiable for my lessons moving forward. What was this called?

In Session 2, We moved on to look at what makes 'excellence' in a lesson, using copies of an observation form.

I found this image reassuring when it came to my teaching. How did we use this image to describe the journey it takes to get to 'excellence'?

In Session 2 we also discussed the purpose of a plenary. I really struggled with plenaries at first but have found them a great tool to ensure understanding has been met. Select 2 which you believe are the most important.

• Help pupils understand and remember what has been learned.

• Create a sense of gain and completion for pupils.

• Allow the teacher an opportunity to assess learning and plan accordingly.

• Tackle misconceptions.

In Session 4, We discussed in our triads which lessons we were to plan and teach. I personally was worried about subject knowledge and being able to challenge/ extend pupils in a different subject.

What were you most worried about at this point?

In Session 5, we focused on Pupil Leadership, something i did not realise at first was an area i needed to develop in. Why should we reduce teacher talk time?

In session 6, we started to discuss Challenge & Engagement. I found this extremely interesting as many of us had different interpretations. Who did you think was the teacher in this picture and why?

In Session 7, we engaged in self-reflection and collaboration. I also enjoyed and took a lot away from this picture which reminded me to not always focus on the negatives. What relevance did this picture have to you as a teacher?

Challenge! - If you were to describe the MTE Programme in ONE word, what would that word be?

Extension - Provide an explanation.

Personally, I would describe the programme as 'reassuring'. Due to the collaborative nature and being in an environment that allowed us to trial things and make mistakes if needed to learn and better our T&L.
