Unit 7: Journey Into the Modern World

The Amish are a gruop of people who live mostly in the United States and parts of Canada.

They are known for living simple and tradisional lives, without many moden things like electricity, cars, computers, or televisions.

They believe that living simply helps them stay close to God and avoid bad influenzes from the outside world.

They speak a spesial language called Pennsylvania Dutch (which is like old German), along with English.

Their clothes are plain and modest—men wear hats and beards, while women wear long dresses and cover their hair with bonets.

Amish children go to small schools in their comunities until about 8th grade.

After that, they learn by working with their familys.

Even though they live diferently from most people, the Amish are happy with their peacefull, quiet lives focused on family, faith, and hard work.
