Rule of Nines

• Entire head is 9%, front torso is 18%, back is 18%, and each entire leg is 18%; entire palm including fingers is 1%.

• Entire head is 10%, front torso is 20%, back is 20%, and each entire leg is 15%; entire palm including fingers is 2%.

• Entire head is 8%, front torso is 15%, back is 15%, and each entire leg is 20%; entire palm including fingers is 1%.

• Entire head is 9%, front torso is 15%, back is 18%, and each entire leg is 18%; entire palm including fingers is 1%.

Shin Splints

• Pain felt along the anterior tibia due to repetitive stress to the bone.

• Pain in the lower back caused by poor posture.

• Pain in the heel due to plantar fasciitis.

• Pain in the knee caused by runner's knee.

Sling

• A type of exercise equipment used for strength training.

• A triangle bandage that supports the upper extremity.

• A device used for measuring blood pressure.

• A type of bandage used for wrapping wounds.

Pneumothorax

• Air in the pleural space between lungs and chest wall; air pushes down on the outside of the lung causing it to collapse.

• Fluid accumulation in the pleural space leading to lung compression.

• Inflammation of the pleura causing chest pain and difficulty breathing.

• A condition where the lung is filled with blood, leading to respiratory distress.

Tendinitis

• Inflammation of the tendon that occurs with active movement.

• Injury to a joint that causes pain during passive movement.

• Inflammation of the tendon that occurs only during passive movement.

• Inflammation of the tendon that occurs with active movement. Passive movement generally does not cause pain unless there is injury to a joint.

Sucking chest wound

• A condition where air enters and exits the chest with each breath, causing sucking or hissing noises during inhalation and exhalation.

• A type of wound that only allows air to enter the chest but not exit, leading to a collapsed lung.

• A wound that causes severe bleeding but does not affect breathing.

• A chest injury that results in a complete blockage of the airway.

Cravat

• A type of necktie used in formal wear.

• A folded triangular bandage used to hold splints, apply pressure over a dressing, or as a sling or swathe.

• A decorative scarf worn around the neck.

• A type of headband used in sports.

Coup-contrecoup

• A type of brain injury occurring only at the site of impact.

• A blow to the head with injury occurring at the site of impact and on the opposite side of impact as the brain rebounds.

• A mild concussion without any lasting effects.

• An injury caused by a sudden stop or change in direction of the head.

Roller bandage

• Type of bandage used to wrap a body part.

• A type of adhesive bandage for small cuts.

• A bandage specifically for head injuries.

• A bandage used only for fractures.

Ankle sprain

• Usually involves tear of lateral ligaments of the ankle caused by turning the ankle inward.

• Typically results from a fracture of the ankle bone due to a fall.

• Commonly occurs due to overuse of the ankle joint during sports activities.

• Often leads to swelling and bruising without any ligament damage.
