What is Quality

• The number of features a product offers compared to competitors

• The degree to which a set of inherent characteristics meets the requirements

• A fancy word managers use when they want things done but won’t explain how

• Something you only hear about during audits

What is a requirement?

• A documented procedure that outlines how a process should be executed

• A guideline that teams can choose to follow if they have time

• An established need or expectation, usually implicit or mandatory

• A wish list from the client that somehow includes teleportation and time travel

What is a containment action?

• A long-term solution designed to eliminate the root cause of a problem

• A preventive measure implemented before any issue has occurred

• The corporate version of “putting a bucket under the leak and hoping for the best"

• An action to limit a problem extent while continue normal operation until the root cause is defined and permanent corrective action are implemented

What is a repairing action (also known as defect fixing or correction)?

• A permanent solution designed to eliminate the root cause of a problem

• The art of making it look like it never broke… until it breaks again

• An action taken to fix a detected nonconformity without addressing its root cause

• A preventive measure implemented to avoid future defects

What is a corrective action?

What is the best description of the relationship between quality and cost in an organization?
