MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

1 min • 1 pt

I was ordained as one of Joseph's counselors on March 8, 1832 in Kirtland along with Sidney Rigdon, although the calling only lasted about six months before I was replaced. My second wife, Minerva, never joined the Church and my beliefs and membership had a lot to do with our separation (my first wife, Martha, died after 13 years of marriage). After growing up in Pennsylvania and Delaware, I was a member of the Quaker community in my twenties, and the Shaker community in my forties prior to joining the Church. I served as a scribe to Joseph on the Bible revision project and I was missionary companions with Zebedee Coltrin to the East soon after my release from the Presidency, which Section 81 of the Doctrine & Covenants says was because I "failed to continue in a manner consistent with this appointment." I didn't make it through 1832 before apostatizing and was excommunicated that year on December 3. Who am I?

Frederick G. Williams

Newel K. Whitney

David W. Patten

Jesse Gause

Here I am pictured with my cane, affectionately known as the Rascal Beater. I was with the Prophet Joseph in the upper room of Carthage Jail when he was murdered, and, when asked by the Prophet if I was willing to go into that cell with him that day, replied, "Brother Joseph you did not ask me to cross the river with you - you did not ask me to come to Carthage - you did not ask me to come to jail with you - and do you think I would forsake you now? But I will tell you what I will do; if you are condemned to be hung for treason, I will be hung in your stead, and you shall go free." Who am I?

Joseph Fielding

Burr Riggs

William Law

Willard Richards

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

1 min • 1 pt

My death on December 18, 1875 in Salt Lake was caused by "over exertion after eating a hearty meal," which has nothing to do with my story but is really unique and I thought you'd like to know. I was born in Nova Scotia, Canada and learned the mason trade at a young age, which served me well throughout my life. I was a part of a group of people who met twice per week discussing topics of religion, led by former Methodist preacher, John Taylor. It was in those meetings that I was taught more clearly by Parley P. Pratt, who baptized me when I was 36. Within 6 months after my conversion I was serving my first mission in the British Isles, where my message was received quite well. One of my assignments after my missionary service was serving as an assistant aide-de-camp in the Nauvoo Legion. I was lucky enough to administer baptisms for the dead in the Mississippi river while the font could not be used. I was specifically called in Section 124 to build the Nauvoo House and traveled to the British Isles again to personally collect donated funds from the Saints there for that project. I was privileged to serve as one of the bodyguards of Joseph's body after his death. I settled in the Salt Lake Valley as a homebuilder until my death as described above. Who am I?

John Snider

John C. Bennett

George Miller

Robert B. Thompson

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

1 min • 1 pt

I was one of the twelve people in the room inside the John Johnson home while Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon received what will soon be known as Section 76 of the Doctrine & Covenants but I didn't actually see the vision myself. My wife, Celia, and I were introduced to the Gospel in October 1830 while passing through Kirtland, Ohio, and quickly accepted it as true. I went with the Prophet on Zion's Camp and later fought in Missouri in the Battle of the Blue River where I was shot near the navel and mistakenly pronounced dead the next day. My wife passed away soon after moving together to Nauvoo, leaving me with five young children. I remarried a widow mother of two children named Hannah and Emma Smith herself made our wedding dinner. I served as one of Joseph's bodyguards and was a close friend of his. For four decades I cared for the death masks of Joseph and Hyrum made by George Cannon and displayed them while sharing my personal experiences with the Prophet. I arrived in Bountiful, Utah in 1851 and later settled in Springville in 1858. My hymn, The Happy Day Has Rolled On, was included in the 1871 edition of the hymnbook. I died on June 7th, 1895 at the age of 89, and am buried in the Springville Cemetery. Who am I?

Sidney Rigdon

Philo Dibble

Orson Hyde

Lincoln Haskins

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

1 min • 1 pt

At two months of age I survived the ransacking of my family home by mobbers while my mother was visiting my incarcerated father in Missouri. After the death of my father before my 6th birthday we moved to the Iowa Territory and then Salt Lake. I was called to serve an almost four year mission in the Hawaiian Islands when I was fifteen years old where I was called "the ______ pleasantest man I ever met!" by a drunk man inquiring if I was a Mormon and after I responded, "Yes, siree; dyed in the wool; true blue, through and through." I was called as an Apostle and member of the First Presidency at the age of 27 and served as counselor to Brigham Young, John Taylor, Wilford Woodruff, and Lorenzo Snow. And I served in these roles while simultaneously serving seven consecutive terms in the House of Representatives. 17 years into my tenure as President of the Church I received what is now known as the 138th section of the Doctrine & Covenants, passing away 19 days afterwards. Who am I?

Joseph Smith

Joseph Fielding Smith

Joseph F. Smith

Joseph Pat Palau Smith

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

1 min • 1 pt

I am described as 5'9" tall, with dark hair, brown eyes, and "well-turned, of excellent form...with splendid physical development." I was with Joseph the day he received the plates from the angel Moroni. I served as a scribe for the Book of Mormon translation and said of Joseph when in my seventies, "I believe he was everything he professed to be." I am specifically mentioned in sections 25 and 132 of the Doctrine & Covenants and my counsel to Joseph that I "could not make the floor look decent" in the the Whitney store may have contributed to what was received in what is now known as the Word of Wisdom - section 89. I am buried in Nauvoo next to Joseph and one of my last known sentences, while extending my left arm, was, "Joseph! Yes, yes, I'm coming." Who am I?

Emma Watson

Emma Thompson

Emma Lonsway

Emma Smith
