the handle on an emergency /meter control valve must always:

• Fall to the off position.

• Fall to the on position.

• Be electrically insulated.

• Have 180^o Travel.

The responsibility for installation and repair to a emergency/meter control lies with:

• The property owner.

• The gas supplier.

• The gas transporter.

• The gas operative.

When a supply to a property incorporates a house entry tee:

• This may be used as an alternative emergency control by the gas operative.

• This must not be used as an alternative emergency control by the gas operative.

• This may be used as an alternative emergency control by the consumer.

• This may be used as a regulating valve by the gas transporter.

When a meter is fitted within an outside meter box, the emergency meter control must always be located:

• Within the meter box.

• Within the building.

• On the outlet side of the meter.

• On the outlet side of the regulator.

When remote external meter boxes are installed to supply gas to a property, in addition to all the usual controls the installation requires an intternal:

• Meter regulator.

• Emergency control valve.

• Test point.

• Meter.

When an internal meter position is identified without the inclusion of a house entry tee, then the operative must:

• Inform the gas transporter.

• Inform the HSE.

• Not test for let by.

• This installation is satisfactory.
