Side effects- Albuterol

• dizziness, swelling of legs/ankles, irregular heartbeat, pounding/fluttering in chest, chest pain/ muscle stiffness, uncontrolled muscle movements

• Skin rash, heart problems, stomach bleeding, liver problems, kidney problems, anemia, stomach pain

• Wheezing/ breathing problems, chest pain, fast/irregular heartbeat, pain/burning urinating,signs of low potassium, increased thirst/urination

• severe agitation, twitching/uncontrolled movements, trouble swallowing/speaking, severe nervous system reaction, low blood cell counts, high blood sugar

Indication- Albuterol

• relax muscles in airways and increase airflow to lungs (to prevent bronchospasm/narrowing of airways)

• To lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels

• Antibiotic used to treat infections caused by bacteria

• To treat schizophrenia, bipolar, major depressive disorder, Tourettes, Autistic Disorder

Contraindications-Albuterol

• Any inhaled medications, bronchodilators, digoxin, a diuretic; some antidepressants, beta blockers, and MAO inhibitors

• Antidepressants, steroid medications, medications to prevent blood clots

• Digoxin, clarithromycin, a blood thinner (Warfarin, Coumadin, Jantoven)

• Any antibiotic, allopurinol, probenecid, an blood thinner (Warfarin, Coumadin, Jantoven). birth control pills
