How many Senators are in Congress?

• Bigger states get more Senators, so there are at least 200 Senators in Congress.

• Each state gets 2 Senators, so there are 100 Senators in Congress. 

How many members of the House of Representatives are in Congress?

• There are 435 members of the House in Congress. 

• Each state gets 2 representatives, so there are 100 members or the House.

How are laws passed?

• Congress decided if a law is good and votes for it. If they get a majority vote, it automatically becomes a law.

• Congress votes on proposed laws, called bills, and if it passes with a majority vote, the bill gets sent to the president for approval. 

What does the executive branch do?

• Make new laws.

• Approves/Enforces laws

Why are there 3 branches of government?

• Each branch helps each other and doesn't have too much power.

• There are so many people, they need separate part of government.

What are two jobs of the President?

• Meet with leaders from foreign countries and leads the military

• Meet with leaders from foreign countries and gets rid of old laws.

How long can a President service in office?

• 2 years

• Up to 8 years

How are justices of the Supreme Court selected?

• The president appoints a justice if a spot becomes available and the Senate votes to approve the justice. 

• Each president appoints all new justices to the Supreme Court.

How long do justices serve on the Supreme Court?

• 10 years

• For life, or until they retire

Why is it difficult to change the Constitution?

• Because a lot of people have to work together and agree to make a change.

• Because only the president can vote to change the Constitution, and president don't like to make big changes.
