Atoms are incredibly small and consist of protons, neutrons, and electrons, with a lot of empty space. The nucleus, made of protons and neutrons, is tiny compared to the atom's size, similar to a grain of sand in an Olympic pool. Electrons, even smaller, move around the nucleus. Protons and neutrons have a mass of one, while electrons are much lighter. The atom's mass is concentrated in the nucleus. Protons are positive, neutrons are neutral, and electrons are negative, making the atom's overall charge neutral.
