King Midas, a wealthy ruler in ancient Greece, loved gold above all else. After helping a satyr, he was granted a wish by Dionysus and chose the ability to turn everything he touched into gold. Initially delighted, Midas soon realized the curse of his wish when he couldn't eat or touch his daughter without turning them to gold. Distraught, he begged Dionysus to remove the curse. Midas was instructed to bathe in the river, which reversed the effects. He learned to appreciate the true riches of life, such as family and simple pleasures, and ruled his kingdom with kindness.
