CPR is a critical emergency response technique that can significantly increase the chances of survival for cardiac arrest victims outside of hospitals. In a cardiac emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately and perform CPR if the person is unresponsive, not breathing, and has no pulse. The main goal of CPR is to keep blood circulating to vital organs. For adults, use two compressions per second, pressing down at least two inches. Trained individuals can give rescue breaths, while untrained individuals can perform hands-only CPR. For infants, use two fingers for compressions. CPR saves lives, and anyone can become certified through local classes.
