The story narrates the life of an old Indian cacique who had several sons and a daughter raised as a princess. The daughter falls in love with the son of an enemy tribe's cacique. Despite the prohibition of marriage by indigenous laws, they unite in love. The princess disappears with her lover, prompting her father to search for her with his warriors. After a long and fruitless search, the cacique dies, and his ear becomes rooted to the ground, transforming into a tree named 'Tiempo'. This tree produces dark, human-shaped seeds, symbolizing the cacique's eternal hope for his daughter's return.
