The Venus flytrap uses nectar to attract insects. It has six tiny trigger hairs that, when touched twice within 20 seconds, activate an electrical impulse causing the trap to snap shut. The trap locks like prison bars, capturing the prey. If the prey is too large, it might escape, but most are trapped and digested over ten days. The trap then reopens, leaving only a husk, ready for its next meal.
