Possessive Nouns: Apostrophe S

We have learned to use the apostrophe to connect (contract) a noun and a form of to be. Example: I am = I'm. What else can the apostrophe at the end of a noun?

To show possession we use an apostrophe, followed by an  s   at the end of a noun. What do we do to show possession if the noun ends with an  s , for example in the plural (dogs)?

• We don't do anything, because we already have an  s .
   

• We use the   's    just like with any other noun.

• We ONLY use the apostrophe, but don't add another  s , that means the apostrophe goes AFTER the  s .
