New deep-sea animal might not be seen again for centuries

NOAA has identified a new undersea species, Dobrakim Sparks, based on video footage from a 2015 dive near Puerto Rico. This gelatinous creature, found 4 kilometers deep, has a transparent body with light-reflecting cilia. It is carnivorous, feeding on small animals. The species' unique appearance resembles a neon light show. Observations noted its use of tentacles to anchor to the sea floor.
