VOICED : Corte entrega restos de masacrados en El Salvador

The Supreme Court of El Salvador returned the remains of 11 victims from the Mozote massacre, where over a thousand people were killed by the military in 1981. The remains of two adults and nine children were given back to their families as part of reparations ordered by the Inter-American Court of Justice. Identifying these remains could be used as evidence in future trials against those responsible, despite challenges posed by a 1993 amnesty law. The massacre is linked to the Atlacatl Battalion, a counterinsurgency unit disbanded after the war. The Legal Tutelage Office has exhumed around 300 bodies, and the prosecution plans to resume excavations for 600 more in November.
