125th Running Of The Boston Marathon Is Underway

The marathon, traditionally held in April, is now in October for the first time. This year, the number of participants is reduced to over 18,000 from over 31,000 in 2019, due to COVID-19. The 2020 race was canceled. Participants must be vaccinated or test negative for COVID-19. A virtual marathon option is available, allowing over 27,000 runners to complete the 26.2-mile course elsewhere for a finisher's medal.
