Italian Prisoners Train to Serve US Military

A year after surrendering in Africa, Italian soldiers are no longer prisoners but part of a new Italian army under US command at Camp Sutton, North Carolina. As noncombatants, they will serve as engineers, building roads and bridges, and operating machinery, thus freeing 50,000 Americans for combat duty. Once soldiers of fascism, they now work to eradicate it.
