Atoms are incredibly small and consist of protons, neutrons, and electrons, with a lot of empty space. The nucleus, made of protons and neutrons, is tiny compared to the atom's size. Electrons orbit the nucleus and are much lighter than protons and neutrons. The mass of an atom is concentrated in the nucleus. Protons are positively charged, neutrons are neutral, and electrons are negatively charged, resulting in a neutral overall charge for the atom.
