The Tuskegee Airmen were the first all-Black air squadron in the U.S., overcoming racial discrimination to serve with distinction in World War II. Despite initial segregation and doubts about their abilities, they trained at the Tuskegee Army Airfield and were deployed as the 99th Pursuit Squadron. Known as the Red Tails, they excelled in combat, flying over 15,000 missions with the lowest loss record. Their success helped challenge racial stereotypes and further civil rights, with some members achieving high military ranks post-war.
