Our solar system, part of the Milky Way's Orion star cluster, formed 4.5 billion years ago from a solar nebula. It consists of eight planets divided into terrestrial (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars) and Jovian (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune) categories. Terrestrial planets are rocky and small, while Jovian planets are gas or ice giants with rings and moons. The asteroid belt lies between Mars and Jupiter, and the Kuiper Belt, home to Pluto, is beyond Neptune. The Oort Cloud marks the solar system's edge. This configuration supports life on Earth, making our solar system unique.
