Horses evolved from smaller creatures over 50 million years and were domesticated by humans 5,000 years ago. They live about 25 years, are herbivores, and can run shortly after birth. Horses have four types of movement: walking, trotting, cantering, and galloping. They have large eyes, excellent senses, and can see almost 360 degrees. Horses communicate through their eyes, ears, and noses. They require regular hoof trimming and consume up to 10 gallons of water daily. Horses have great memories and recognize familiar people.
