Roman Britain was distinct from modern Britain, with dense forests and small farming communities. Romans introduced infrastructure like roads and baths. They occupied Britain from AD-43 to AD-410, bringing peace and prosperity. However, barbarian invasions increased, and Roman troops withdrew in AD-410. This left Britons vulnerable, leading to invasions by Scot tribes and Germanic groups like the Angles and Saxons. By AD-610, Saxons governed most of Britain, culminating in the Battle of Chester in 616 AD, where Anglo-Saxons defeated native Britons.
