In a winter landscape, trumpeter swans find refuge in geothermal pools as they migrate to the Rocky Mountains. Despite the sanctuary, they face threats from predators like coyotes. The coyote, unable to hide on the frozen river, must be patient to catch the swans off-guard. The swans, however, are vigilant and rely on their crowded safe-haven to escape. Those further from the water are at risk, as taking flight requires time and momentum. The coyote watches for an opportunity, but the swans' quick escape often thwarts its efforts.
