Barbara McClintock: Great Minds

Barbara McClintock, a pioneering scientist in cytogenetics, made groundbreaking discoveries about the physical location of genes on chromosomes and the process of chromosome crossover. Her work on Indian corn led to the discovery of transposable elements, or jumping genes, which are crucial for genetic mutations. Despite facing ridicule and lack of recognition in her time, McClintock's contributions were eventually acknowledged, earning her a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
