Venezuelan Attorney General Tarek William Saab accused former Attorney General Luisa Ortega of complicity in a $200 million embezzlement case involving oil contracts. Saab criticized Ortega for not investigating the case and held her responsible for the fraud, which involved overpricing in contracts from 2010 to 2016 in the Orinoco Oil Belt. Ortega was dismissed in August after breaking with the government and later fled to Colombia, accusing President Nicolás Maduro of persecution and linking him to the Odebrecht bribery scandal.
