Transgender Troops To Serve Openly In U.S. Military

The Pentagon has overturned a Trump-era ban, allowing transgender individuals who meet military standards to serve openly as their self-identified gender. They will also have access to medically necessary care. Currently, 8,000 service members identify as transgender, with 2,200 diagnosed with gender dysphoria. The new policies will be effective from April 30th.
