Trailblazing Women of the 20s - Footballer Lily Parr

This video focuses on Lily Parr, a pioneering female footballer from Saint Helens, Lancashire. Born in 1905, she played for the Dick, Kerr Ladies team during a time when women's football was gaining popularity. Despite a ban by the Football Association in 1921, Lily and her team continued to play, even touring North America. She later trained as a nurse but remained active in football until 1951. Lily was the first woman inducted into the National Football Museum Hall of Fame and is celebrated as one of the greatest players of her time, scoring 986 goals in her career.
