VOICED : Masiva marcha indigena y nuevos disturbios en Ecuador

In Ecuador, indigenous groups protested against economic measures that increased fuel prices. The government, led by President Lenín Moreno, declared a state of exception and restricted night-time movement around public facilities. The protests led to clashes with police and forced Moreno to relocate to Guayaquil. The government opened dialogue with the help of the UN and the Catholic Church, while indigenous groups demanded the reversal of fuel subsidy cuts linked to an IMF loan. Moreno accused former president Rafael Correa of inciting unrest with Venezuelan support. Correa, from Belgium, called for early elections. Moreno received backing from the US, OAS, and several Latin American countries.
