VOICED : Oposicion venezolana retomo la calle para exigir elecciones

On Monday, around 2,000 Venezuelan opposition members protested in Caracas, demanding early elections to remove President Nicolás Maduro, whom they blame for the country's political and economic crisis. The International Monetary Fund predicts a 1,660% inflation rate for Venezuela in 2017. Citizens are encouraged to use the Constitution to pressure the government into dialogue and negotiation. Police blocked protesters from reaching the National Electoral Council, where opposition leader Julio Borges submitted an election petition. In Táchira, near Colombia, protests also took place. This was the first march organized by the Democratic Unity Roundtable after the National Electoral Council suspended a recall referendum against Maduro and initiated dialogue between the government and opposition. The protest coincided with the anniversary of the fall of Marcos Pérez Jiménez's military dictatorship in 1958. The opposition announced future surprise demonstrations.
