Grand Coulee Dam Opens

The Grand Coulee Dam in Washington, initiated by Governor Arthur B Langley, is nearing completion after eight years of construction. It will generate significant power, with the first 10,000 kilowatts already in operation. The local Indian tribes, whose lands are now part of Grand Coulee Lake, are the first power customers. The dam will soon house 18 massive generators, contributing significantly to the nation's power supply and fulfilling the vision of the Golden West.
