FDA Approves Emergency Authorization For COVID-19 Saliva Test

Yale University developed a new coronavirus test called Saliva Direct, which is less invasive and cheaper than nasal swabs. Although not yet peer-reviewed, it shows similar accuracy to nasal tests. The FDA has granted emergency authorization, and the NBA has used it for daily testing. Saliva Direct could be a significant advancement in public health testing, costing around $10 per sample.
