VOICED : Muere exdictador guatemalteco Rios Montt acusado de genocidio

Efraín Ríos Montt, former Guatemalan dictator, died at 91. He ruled from 1982 to 1983, a period marked by severe violence during the Guatemalan Civil War. In 2013, he was convicted of genocide for the massacre of 1,771 indigenous Mayans but the conviction was annulled due to procedural errors. Ríos Montt came to power through a coup and was overthrown in the same manner. His regime was one of the most violent in the civil war, which resulted in 200,000 deaths and disappearances, with the majority of human rights violations occurring between 1978 and 1984, as reported by the UN in 1999.
