VOICED : Un ruso homosexual habla sobre la tortura policial en Chechenia

Maxim Lapunov, a Russian homosexual, publicly denounced his detention and torture by Chechen police. He is the first to speak out since reports emerged in March of gay men being arrested and beaten in the Muslim-majority region. Lapunov, detained in Grozny from March 16 to 28, described harsh jail conditions and threats from police. He was released after signing documents and admitting his sexuality on video. Initially dismissed by Russian authorities, his testimony is now under review by the Ombudsman.
