A Colombian photographer recounts his survival of the deadly avalanche on Everest caused by a 7.8 earthquake in Nepal. He describes the moment he captured the avalanche with the wrong lens and the subsequent impact. Despite the destruction, his camera survived. The avalanche claimed 18 lives, but rescue helicopters evacuated the severely injured, and the photographer eventually left the mountain.
