Josep Luis Trapero, the head of the Catalan Police, remains free despite being charged with sedition. The Spanish National Court's prosecution sought his detention, but the judge allowed him provisional freedom with restrictions. Trapero is under investigation for political motivations and alleged inaction during protests against the Spanish Police and the illegal independence referendum. Alongside Trapero, independentist leaders Jordi Sánchez and Jordi Cuixart were also charged with sedition and placed in preventive detention for organizing protests that obstructed police operations.
