VOICED : ONU: Crisis entre Riad y Teheran no afectara dialogo sobre Siria

The UN envoy for Syria stated that the diplomatic crisis between Iran and Saudi Arabia will not impact international efforts to resolve the Syrian conflict. Following conferences in Austria and Switzerland, a new meeting is planned for January 25 with both the Syrian government and opposition. Assurances were received from Riyadh and Tehran that recent tensions will not hinder the Vienna and Geneva talks. Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic ties with Iran after executing a critical Shia leader. Iran, alongside Russia, supports the Assad regime, while Saudi Arabia backs the opposition and calls for Assad's removal.
