The Battle of Yorktown

The Battle of Yorktown was the final major conflict of the Revolutionary War, lasting from August to October 1781. British General Cornwallis was stationed in Yorktown, Virginia, awaiting reinforcements. Meanwhile, French and American forces, led by Admiral de Grasse and George Washington, coordinated a siege. Cornwallis was outnumbered and eventually surrendered on October 19, 1781, marking a decisive American victory. This led to the end of the war with the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1783.
