India has imposed new COVID-19 restrictions in Maharashtra due to a surge in cases. The state, with Bombay as its capital, has been the hardest hit, with 52,000 deaths. India currently has 150,000 active cases and is the second-highest in the world with over 11 million cases. The country began vaccinating healthcare workers in January, aiming for 300 million vaccinations by July, but at the current pace, it will take years to reach this goal.
